kiertorata: (escapism)
Thank you so much for creating for me!

I'm so excited to see what you come up with, no matter the fandom!

Please use my likes and prompts as inspiration, don't feel pressured to include anything! Prompts in particular are only suggestions - I'm terrible at coming up with prompts, so I'll probably just be happier seeing whatever you come up with.

I hope you have a good time creating <3

Do-not-wants:

- PWP (some smut is fine, but less can be more when it comes to smut)
- tooth-rotting fluff
- jealousy as a major plotline, particularly out-of-proportions reactions or actions out of jealousy
- holiday fic, particularly anywhere tropical and relaxed
- large age gap
- large power difference in the couple, unless both parties clearly have some agency (eg. boss/employer is fine if the dynamic is balanced, particularly if the employer holds emotional/sexual power over the other party)
- any underage stuff (most of the characters I've listed should be of age anyway, with one exception which I'll get to)
- noncon
- smut: anything underage, watersports, scat, bloodplay, foot fetish, incest, over-the-top reassurance/consent asking/kink negotiation (especially in an established couple, who frequently engage in kink - we know it's consensual), doing anything for the male gaze
- anything very out of character (but since I love obscure side-characters with no well-defined canon-personality, go wild with them!)
- characters in their early 20s all having unrealistically glamorous jobs straight out of school (maybe this is only a Harry Potter fandom problem lol, looking at all you quidditch players and curse breakers)
- fics revolving around locations/languages/special knowledge that haven't been researched
- whitewashing, racism, sexism, fatphobia, etc. (these can play a part in the plot or be part of the universe the characters are from, but I'd like to avoid these things intended as entertainment)
- AUs I'm not interested in: tattoo artist. angel/demon or incubus/succubus, wings, alpha/beta/omega stuff, kidfic (otherwise I'm pretty game when it comes to AUs, especially in art!)
- art-specific DNW: chibis (anime style is otherwise ok if that's your style!), 3D modelled art (eg. Sims game characters)

I adore:

- mystery
- angst
- adventure
- humor, crack!fic, absurdity
- bittersweetness, heartbreak, one-sided feelings, pining
- canonesque atmosphere
- obliviousness, secret crushes
- friendships playing a major role
- friends-to-lovers
- friends with benefits, enemies with benefits
- forced proximity
- banter
- bitchiness, snarkiness, drama queens, mean characters
- silly, vain, frivolous characters and the hidden sides to them that most people don't see
- burnout, shitty jobs, exhaustion
- academia, research, university, nerdiness
- partners in something (eg. research, crime, work), forced to work together, or partners where the chemistry, banter and teamwork is so good that neither wants to wreck it by making a move
- case fic, and stolen moments in case fics (ie. what I'm trying to say is, a good plot is good, but I'm not that particular! it's more about the atmosphere and character dynamics)
- detective work (not necessarily in case fic, just those aha moments where a character puts 1+1 together), Nancy Drew moments, taking matters into own hands and doing research of one's own
- horror, Lovecraftian vibes (especially without the obsessiveness, if that makes sense), blending science and mystery/supernatural, sense of looming despair
- places where time has stopped, forgotten places (such as old towns), a sense of being outside time
- heists, capers, spying
- underground movements, rebellion, war
- punk movement
- spirituality, soft occultism (versus you know, the sort of hard occultism that is obsessive and takes itself too seriously and is all about power, think Saruman from LotR), feminine spirituality, domestic/casual spiritual routines
- divination, tarot, astrology
- domestic scenes
- farms, ranches, gardening, safe havens that characters have made for themselves and/or their community
- roadtrips
- lush descriptions of nature or places
- camping, survival
- artists
- chosen family, strange families (think Addams family - against the grain but having a lot of fun)
- pregnancy, parenting (especially with a focus on the parent's life and feelings and especially with chosen families!), co-parenting
- personal growth, learning to become more unapologetic of one's self
- characters coping with life, how messy and real things can be, nuances of life and relationships
- tough moral choices, grey areas, characters going against their better judgement
- when female, nonbinary, etc. characters that were "meh" in canon are given depth and a proper story, focus on non-male characters and their relationships with each other
- party games, alcohol
- teens and young adults getting to be young (rebelling, partying, experiencing firsts, being dramatic, etc.)
- smut and dirty talk that integrates well into the rest of the story or context
- timetravel (if it is somehow feasible in the fandom/universe)
- when things (like supernatural or mysterious elements, or feelings) aren't overexplained
- missing canon moments, especially interpretations that put other canon parts under a new light
- kinks: d/s dynamics and switchy vibes (more of the bratty!sub variety than aiming to please variety), dirty talk, teasing, humiliation, edging, orgasm denial, biting, hair pulling, light asphyxiation, penetration, sex toys, cunnilingus
- shippy art
- art: I adore seeing all kinds of art styles and interesting color palettes, please let your muse take you wherever it wants
- art that could be a scene from a story (that story does not have to be canon, eg. feel free to take anything from my fic likes and use that for inspiration)
- art AUs: pirate, fairy tale, winter wonderland, scifi, cyberpunk, western, etc.!
- art: comics, including short panels!
- vid: feel free to add any content from other films/shows/games if they suit the idea your going for
- vid: also feel free to explore a non-canon plot idea! (anything from my fic likes can be used as inspiration)
- vid: I've included some music suggestions for each applicable fandom, but don't let that hold you back - I love music and enjoy a huge variety of it and am always excited to be introduced to new stuff (here's a bunch of music I like, if you're interested)

Likes/neutral:

- not a favorite trope, but not a squick either: infidelity (if it works for your plot, go for it! I like how it comes with a good mess of guilt, self-loathing and other feelings)
- character death
- I'm very ok with additional surprise side pairings (if there's anything I don't want, I'll mention it in the fandom-specific requests)

Fandom-specific requests:

VA-11 Hall-A
What I love about this game: the cyberpunk aesthetics, the fucked up'edness of Glitch City, the dystopian world in general, depression, angst, the sense that life goes on day by day even when there's big regrets in the past, self-punishment, slice-of-life, wandering around in life, being close to 30 but still figuring it out, Jill's crush on Dana, all the interesting characters and the slow development of friendships, finding human connection even though the world is grim

Ships:
Alma Armas/Jill Stingray
Jill Stingray/Dana Zane
Kira Miki/Jill Stingray
Sei Asagiri/Jill Stingray
Stella Hoshii/Jill Stingray

I just want to torture myself with one-sided pining and undercurrents of low self-worth and self-loathing lol

Prompt ideas:
  • General prompts: unrequited feelings, feeling of impending doom but with slice-of-life sense of normality, regret, basking in all the angst
  • also a green light applicable to this fandom: low-key alcoholism
  • Jill/Dana, Jill/any: Jill sitting on the other side of the bar - I'd particularly like to see Dana serving her, but anyone else would be interesting as well
  • Jill/Dana or Jill/Alma: one-sided/pining - everyone other than herself can see that Jill's crush is mostly just escapism. Dana (or Alma) is a good object of desire, because it will never be reciprocated. Bonus/optional: Jill finds someone else.
  • Jill/any: Jill picks up the violin again after many years
  • Jill/Alma: Alma finally gets enough of her family drama and comes to stay with Jill as housemates. Jill starts falling for her. Bonus prompt: Jill has unrequited feelings towards Alma, but Alma's heterosexuality isn't all that clear cut, it turns out. That weird place between friendship and love. Super bonus: Alma has something going on with Gil.
  • Kira Miki/Jill: Kira Miki finally finds that special person.
  • Jill/any: Character A starts visiting the bar more and more. Jill's heart feels a little lighter every time.
  • Jill/Sei or Jill/Stella: Jill dealing with the slight guilt of starting to date one of them, when it always felt like they would end up together

Elsinore
What I love about this game: moral grey areas, female characters that try to take their own fate into their own hands, a sense of looming despair, but the sense that despite fate, in the end, life is what we make of it, Brit's cattiness, Hamlet's schoolboy angst, Guilda!!! and the comedic relief that Guilda and Rosie bring, how messing in other people's business may have consequences, being rightfully selfish and choosing for oneself even when responsibilities are tugging every which way, the way in which people's agendas and fears all cause a conflicting mess that's impossible to untangle without some casualties, the way some characters feel like side-characters in someone else's story

Ships:
Ophelia/Guildenstern (Guilda)
Ophelia/Rosencrantz (Rosie)/Guildenstern (Guilda)
Ophelia/Birgitta von Brokenhuus (Brit)
Rosencrantz/Grace O'Malley

Prompt ideas:
  • You can have as much meta (such as Ophelia reflecting over things she saw in other timelines) as you want!
  • I've always been intrigued by "silly" girls - and what's behind the silly girl archetype. That's why Guilda was probably my favorite character out of the bunch. Another favorite is the vain/mean girl archetype that Brit embodied. I'd love any exploration of these roles!
  • Ophelia/Guilda or Ophelia/Rosie/Guilda: I absolutely would have locked the "Sacrifice RESPONSIBILITY for INDULGANCE" timeline in place if I hadn't been too intrigued to see all the other endings. I'd love any stories from this timeline, especially when they try "living unadventurously"
  • Ophelia/Brit: I found it intriguing how quickly Brit was able to change her mind about what she was tasked with, when given the right persuasion. And how there was a certain honesty in the way Brit talked to Ophelia, like she was the only person she could talk to properly. An exploration of the nuances of their relationship, and what they might hold.
  • Ophelia/Brit: what happens when they work together. (Optional: betrayal, either of them using the other to get a desired outcome)
  • Rosie/Grace O'Malley: I just want a happily ever after for Rosie, ok

Kathy Rain
What I love about this game: the atmosphere and aesthetics (small town vibe, rain, graveyards, motorcycles - all that jazz), fighting an inner battle, tormented by the past, trying to stay strong but actually needing others, detective work, delving into one's own shadow, Kathy's sassiness

Ships:
Kathy Rain/Eileen Summers

Prompt ideas:
  • General prompts: opposites attract, a love and bond so strong that words aren't necessary, detective work, humor, banter
  • Aftermath of where the game left us
  • What happened when Eileen disappeared (spoiler)
  • Future AU, where Kathy and Eileen inherit Kathy's grandparents' house. Bonus: Kathy becoming the new Sheriff.
  • vid song ideas: here

Disco Elysium
What I love about this game: obscure, unexplained references to things beyond the human understanding (eg. "the pale"), the mix of cultures and languages, the bleakness but also the way life seems to find a way, how pulsing with different aspects of the human experience everything is within the game, the absurdity, the meta levels, the way the world so seamlessly blends detectiving and a politically & historically bleak place forgotten by the world with tabletop roleplay games, weird music scene, cryptozoology and a handful of other odd things

Ships (I totally forgot about Lillienne Carter (the Net Picker) in the sign ups, even though she's one of my favorites, so I've added her below if you feel inspired by that):
Klaasje Amandou/Ruby
Klaasje Amandou/Cindy the Skull
Klaasje Amandou/Measurehead's Babe
Neha (Novelty Dicemaker)/Soona Luukanen-Kilde
Acele Berger/Soona Luukanen-Kilde
Elizabeth Beaufort/Neha (Novelty Dicemaker)
Lilienne Carter/Neha (Novelty Dicemaker)
Joyce Messier/Lilienne Carter
Joyce Messier/Klaasje Amandou
Annette/Cunoesse Vittulainen*
Plaisance/Billie Méjean (Working Class Woman)

We're really in the deep end here… many of these characters barely had any screen time, not to mention how difficult this game will be to create for, because of all the made-up political and historical references in the universe. (Also lol, some characters don't even have a proper name, so feel free to give them one). But one can be hopeful! I will be eternally grateful if someone picks up the challenge of writing for this fandom!

Prompt ideas:
  • General prompts: underground movements where women are running things, the way different characters cope with things through escapism or realism
  • Klaasje/any: Klaasje is such an enigma. Either she's more honest than anyone (and no longer cares about holding pretenses), or she's manipulating everyone.
  • Klaasje/any (except Ruby): Klaasje seeking comfort after what happened. Bonus: get really dark with it.
  • Klaasje Amandou/Measurehead's Babe: Measurehead's Babe finally realizes she hasn't been thinking with her own brain, when she sees someone who is. Bonus: Babe just gets wrapped up in another unfulfilling hero-worship.
  • Soona/any: all I want is happiness for her, someone who gets her aloofness and roots for her projects
  • Cunoesse/Annette (the Bookstore keeper's daughter): It's obvious Cunoesse is from a very broken home (if she's even a real character at all and not just a fragment of Cuno's subconscious lol), and does not have very many supportive relationships in her life. Maybe Annette is the only constant for her. (NOTE: Both characters are obviously underage in the game, but roughly the same age, so keep any smut content to when they're of age)
  • Joyce Messier/Lilienne Carter: Joyce and Lilienne get to know each other when Joyce is parked up at the fishermen shacks.
  • Plaisance/Billie Méjean (Working Class Woman): Plaisance's bookstore is the daily escapism Billie needs.
  • Joyce Messier/Klaasje Amandou: Klaasje disappears from Revachol at the same time as Joyce. What happened? Did Klaasje steal Joyce's boat or did Joyce help Klaasje escape? If the latter, did they already have history and is that why Joyce was so keen on spending time in Revachol?
  • vid song ideas: (had trouble coming up with any song ideas for this one)

Night In The Woods
What I love about this game: the spooky but subtle atmosphere, how slow-tempoed it is, the sense that time moves differently in this small town, depression, angst, but also how often these feelings express themselves in subtle ways, the pains and slight awkwardness of trying to pick up old friendships, growing pains, playful ways to interact with the world, feeling emotionally broken and different, feeling stuck, autumnal vibes, lovable characters, undertones of caring and warmth

Ships:
Mae Borowski/Bea Santello

Prompt ideas:
  • Stepping over that line that both are terrified to step over, giving names to buzzing feelings that haven't been identified yet
  • Denial and secret pining
  • Hurt/comfort
  • First sleepover since being kids
  • Any other characters from the game are also very appreciated!
  • vid song ideas: here

Twin Peaks
What I love about this series: the perfect blend of absurdity, horror, warmth, spiritual, supernatural oddness, small town vibes, all the characters with their conflicting agendas and shadows surfacing, Donna!!!, the enigma that is Audrey and how she suffers under this role, Cooper's character naturally, how nothing is explicitly explained, cherry pie and diner vibes

Ships:
Donna Hayward/Audrey Horne
Annie Blackburn/Shelly Johnson
Josie Packard/Catherine Martell
Laura Palmer/Ronette Pulaski
Audrey Horne/Ronette Pulaski
Donna Hayward/Laura Palmer
Maddy Ferguson/Donna Hayward
Norma Jennings/Shelly Johnson
Audrey Horne/Shelly Johnson

Note: I haven't seen the third season and likely won't!

Prompt ideas:
  • General prompts: one-sided feelings (particularly Donna/Laura), going against one's better judgement and wallowing in self-loathing about it, hurt/comfort, characters finding solace in each other, keeping secrets, fear, detective work
  • Donna/any: It's years later, and after going to school and working elsewhere, Donna is returning to become the sheriff of Twin Peaks. (Or has been the sheriff for some time, it doesn't matter.) Bonus: Donna and Character A's paths cross again because of a case.
  • Josie/Catherine: All the deceit, manipulation, enemies-to-lovers and fighting for power over each other (but enjoying the dynamic way too much - ie. they need each other to get off)
  • Laura/Ronette or Norma/Shelly: Finding comfort in each other in scary times
  • Audrey/Laura or Audrey/Ronette: A secret no-one new about. Bonus: Audrey is in pieces after the death and has trouble holding her feelings in.
  • Annie/Shelly: Every choice in Shelly's life has felt like the wrong choice. But since Annie started working at the diner, she's felt lighter and happier by the day. Maybe here's a decision she won't have to regret.
  • vid song ideas: here

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
What I love about this game: how there seems to be absolutely no distinction between sexes in this world, fate is what you make of it, lush nature, mountains and winter scenery

Ships:
Astrid/Muiri
Astrid/Sapphire
Rayya/Senna
Female Dovahkiin/Muiri
Female Dovahkiin/Astrid
Female Dovahkiin/Sapphire
Female Dovahkiin/Rayya

Prompt ideas:
  • General prompts: partners in crime, adventuring, camping, foraging, any suitable jobs, equal partners, equal enemies, getting fucked over
  • If you want to write an original character as female Dovahkiin, knock yourself out! My only wish when it comes to race is no Khajiits or Argonians in these ships, please
  • Muiri/any: The quests offered by her in the game made me immediately think that she's less of a victim than she plays out to be, and is someone who's very good at wrapping other people around her finger. Bring on the manipulation and deceit, and character A realizing they've been fucked over.
  • Astrid/Sapphire or Astrid/Dovahkiin: They have some history together. Bonus: it didn't end well, and now they have to face it again. Super bonus: Astrid has to kill Sapphire or someone close to her.
  • Astrid/Sapphire or Astrid/Dovahkiin: Sapphire is tasked to steal something from the Dark Brotherhood. Astrid is not happy.
  • Rayya/Senna: Long-distance. Senna is working in the city in the Temple of Dibella and Rayya took the temporary Housecarl job so that they can save up for a home together.
  • Dovahkiin/Rayya: MC has seen a lot of places and maybe even owns some properties in other places. But it is only when she sets foot in Falkreath that she feels a sense of home. Maybe her next adventure is here, alongside the ravishing redguard warrior she just met.
  • Vid song ideas: here

Stardew Valley
What I love about this game: escaping a bleak corporate life with no meaning, small town vibes, all characters have their own hopes and dreams and secret pains, gardening, foraging and exploring, lesbian ranch aesthetics, some characters having mixed feelings about home (feeling stuck but also happy-ish)

Ships:
Emily/Sandy
Caroline/Jodi
Jodi/Robin
Haley/Leah
Maru/Penny
Abigail/Haley
Leah/Robin

Prompt ideas:
  • General prompts: infidelity, small town secrets, farm life, unlikely friendships, hopes and dreams but also feeling small before them, heart-to-hearts
  • even though the general atmosphere of the game is quite light, feel free to mix dark plots in where you see opportunity
  • also I occasionally toy with a rather morbid idea that in addition to her home troubles, Penny has also been sexually abused by Shane (no need to include this, if it's distasteful to you)
  • Penny/Maru: Penny's pains & finding a true friend in Maru.
  • Haley/Any: Struggling with feeling like and outsider, not just because of her personality and interests, but also because of her in-the-closet sexuality.
  • Haley/Leah: Haley has a most persistent and annoying crush at the most unlikely person... Leah! Leah, who is outdoorsy, down to earth and walks around in her muddy boots - the opposite of everything Haley thought she wants.
  • Abigail/Haley: Abigail has always wanted to be an adventurer, but deep down, she's scared of venturing too far into the mines. But when Haley challenges her to show her around (and maybe search for some beautiful gems) she's put into a tight spot.
  • Caroline/Jodi, Jodi/Robin or Leah/Robin: infidelity. Bonus: they were sweethearts in the past. Now they're married to the wrong people and have kids and everything is complicated.
  • Penny/Maru: Penny feels like she is constantly followed by something, a shadow, a ghost - something. She doesn't know what it is, but she can see it from the corner of her eye at odd moments, beside her bed in the split second before waking up, etc. odd times. She thinks she's going crazy, but finally confides in Maru. Bonus: Maru starts using her scientific equipment to find out what it is.
  • Robin/any: More ghosts. Robin helps Character A with some house remodeling and during the job, runs into something strange. Seems like the house is haunted.
  • Sandy/Emily: Emily's girlfriend Sandy comes to stay with Emily and Haley. Haley is very territorial about their house. Bonus: Go all the way comedy with this.
  • Jodi/any: Jodi seeks comfort while her husband is away.
  • vid song ideas: here

The Red Strings Club
What I love about this game: the moral decisions, the cyberpunk and particularly the hacker aesthetics, serving drinks as a way to enhance certain feelings, the soundtrack, the queerness

Ships:
Diana Meyes/Naima Cosse

Prompts:
  • General prompts: fear of getting fucked over, trust issues but desperately in the need of a heart-to-heart, seeking comfort in the wrong person

Title: Midsummer Night's Magic
Author: [livejournal.com profile] kiertorata
Pairing: Lavender Brown/Parvati Patil
Word Count: 3777
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: language, alcohol
Summary: An ancient midsummer night's rite doesn't work, or maybe it does. Obliviousness, magic, summer and wine, and Post-war vibes.
Notes: I had this idea ages ago and was going to write it by Summer Solstice, but what do you know, I only started writing it after Solstice and only got round to posting it now. So it's a little out of season, but it's still a cute little fic, and I hope you enjoy it. Thanks so much to [livejournal.com profile] lenapinewoods for the beta! The midsummer magic was inspired by the midsummer episodes of Moomins and Finnish folklore. And the ending was partially inspired by some Lavender/Parvati wedding fanart I did for femmefest this year. You can check that out here!

Also, note that even though it is only mentioned vaguely in one or two details in this fic, I like to write and draw a black Lavender. I'm completely fine with a white Lavender too, it's just something I like to write/draw because I feel that Lavender was one of the characters that was unfairly whitewashed in the films. Also, if you're wondering since it's not mentioned in the fic, I imagine Lavender as a Pisces, lol.

GAME RECS

Jun. 22nd, 2017 10:31 pm
kiertorata: (xkcd)
(Meta: I'm back from my roadtrip to Iceland (which was epic and amazing!) and have a couple of days before I'm gone for another week, volunteer stuff this time. Have real life things to do but meanwhile I'm super excited play games and catch up on fandom. Spent today getting spooped by IMSCARED and felt like doing a bit of a review thing on some of the awesome stuff I've played recently.)

Some games I've played withing the last half-year or so that are worth mentioning!

The Long Dark
what it is: a survival game set in Canadian wilderness
time spent: ~40 hours
verdict: 5/5
I love this game. It's super atmospheric and immersive, with absolutely gorgeous winter scenery and scary music. It pretty much offers everything I want in a game: exploration, looting and problem solving. Despite being in sandbox mode, this game is definitely worth the money and I've spent hours and hours lost in its gorgeous world. The game doesn't guide you too much, so the first few attempts at surviving are very rewarding, when every time you learn something new and manage to stay alive a little longer. The map is huge and even after exploring most of it and getting pretty good at basic survival, there's a ton to do with the challenges and the different difficulty levels. Not to mention that the first two chapters of plot are coming out in August. Although this is a single-player game, I recommend playing it together with friends so that everyone can comment and make decisions together.

Mystic Messenger
what it is: an otome game for mobile phones where the player chats, calls and texts the characters in the game
time spent: ??? (a lot)
verdict: 4/5
I'm not a player of otome games in general, so I don't have anything to compare this to. But if you've run into hype around this game, please know that it is well-grounded! The game has very well-written characters with lots of funny moments. Warning: it will immerse you. You will be checking your phone a hundred times a day. I only played Jaehee's and Seven's plots and simply had to stop because it was interfering with real-life so badly. (I got the bad ending for Seven and was heartbroken for days!) Definitely start playing this when you don't have a lot going on in your life. The game is free unless you decide to unlock conversations you missed with hourglasses that need to be bought. (I opted for waking up at insane times like 3 AM and spending 0 € on this. I think sticking with the times the chats arrived made this even more immersive and real in a way.) And it takes up a ton of space on your phone was is well worth deleting other apps for for a while.

Night in the Woods
what it is: a story-focused game with platformer elements
time spent: ~11 hours
verdict: 5/5
I didn't think I would like this game as much as I did, but I utterly fell in love with it. If you're looking to play something heartwarming, sad, suspenseful, spooky and amazing, this is your game. I paid full price and don't regret it a bit. The characters are relatable and real, and the story had me hooked. What makes this game so different is how fleshed out and real the NPCs felt. It is too common in games for NPCs to exist only for the MC's purpose, but in this game they felt like real beings with problems of their own having nothing to do with the main character! My only critique is the slightly annoying platformer puzzle thingies (I'm not a fan of platformer games at all) and the intro. It took me around 1,5 hours to become immersed in the game, because the intro is very slow and a little boring. I'm also not entirely sure if the choices I made actually mattered, except when I had to choose a character who's story to follow. That didn't matter thought, and I'll definitely be back for all the plotlines I missed.

VA-11 Hall-A
what it is: a cyberpunk visual novel with a bartending minigame
time spent: ~8 hours
verdict: 3.5/5
The graphics in this game are so beautiful, and the music is pretty nice too! I think it is worth playing just for the visuals if it's a style you enjoy. It's not much of a game but more like a story with a bartending minigame. The characters were likeable and the story was set in an interesting dystopian city. I'm not sure I'll be back for round two, but I did enjoy the characters enough to possibly make some fanart or fanfic about them. I was super wowed by the fact that this game started out as a game jam game.

Mount Your Friends
what it is: I don't even know
time spent: 30 min
verdict: 3/5
The object is to make it to the top of the man-tower within the time limit. Is this game silly? Yes. Completely stupid? Yes. Fun? Omg yes. Played this drunk with some friends and it was hilarious. Worth the 2 € it cost.

IMSCARED
what it is: a meta-horror puzzle game
time spent: ~8 hours
verdict: 5/5 amazing such wow buy this it is cheaaaaap
I can't even begin with this game. Mostly because I don't want to give away any spoilers. This game is best plunged into with as little beforehand knowledge as possible. It's one of the most satisfying gaming experiences I've had in a long time. I was constantly taken by surprise with all the clever stuff the game threw at me. It's full of amazingly done meta, and completely immersive and atmospheric and spooky with interesting puzzles that don't repeat themselves. I even liked the dorky pixel art style. And the fact that this was made with Game Maker continues to astonish me. Play this.

SO... I'm not sure the scant amout of stuff I've created over the years deserves its own masterlist, but here goes anyways! Included a couple "gems" from the teenage years for the lols. I marked the stuff I'm most proud of with a "❤" for your convenience. (Self-pimping is the best pimping.)

I tend to write femslash with humor and a lot of dialogue. Alcohol also seems to play a part in many of my fics. (I blame my cultural background, Finns are a nation of drunkards.) Pansy is my babe and I love writing Ginny, Harry, Snape and Lavender as well.
Kudos and comments are very much appreciated and if you spot any spelling or grammar mistakes, feel free to point them out! Also, I'm absolutely fine (and would be very honoured and thrilled) with anyone remixing my work, just drop me a link of what you did so that I can go admire it.

Forgot to write about this earlier, but I participated in Nordic Game Jam this year! I ended up in a team apart from my usual team of friends (epic Antiderivative Games TM .com .org .net) and made graphics for a scifi-esque game. Here's some of my work:

Strangely I actually had a ton of extra time during the jam. In hindsight, I should have joined as a graphics artist for another team as well since there was a shortage of artists as usual. But then again, it was nice to get enough sleep. As always, I came to the jam with the idea of learning something (last time it was animation). I didn't really challenge myself much; the only "new" thing I did was put a lot of effort into the background and tried to steer away from the pixel-style art I tend to drift towards in every jam.

But after the jam I was motivated enough to actually download Blender and start looking at 3D art making! Yay. Maybe I'll actually even open Unity sometime soon. Hashtag motivationrealness.

Here’s my pretty meh first attempt at digital painting! I made it around 1-2 weeks ago. As you can see, it’s unfinished (I got too fed up with it to bother with the rest of the hair and the area from below the neck lol). I’m mostly posting this as reference, to log my progress if I indeed make progress. I was too lazy to bother with tutorials and reference images, so this truly reflects my very n00b understanding of how light and shadows and the whole painting thing works.

It’s not awful, but there is something about it that isn’t quite there. The image is kind of flat, which is probably a result of both not understanding when to use warm and cool tones and focusing too much on detail to make things dynamic. But it’s a decent enough attempt, and took around ~4-5 hours. I only worked with the two oil brushes that Clip Studio Pro comes with.

Although the painting is nothing special, I really love the draft! I’d love to give the character a story.

It’s tempting to stick to a comfortable comic style - the sheer amount of things I need to learn to become a decent painter is kind of depressing - but I will try to motivate myself to learn more. Some time in the near future: tutorials, drawing from real life, all that shizzle. Yay.

(Thought I'd start posting gamedev stuff here. This will be my general creative blog from now on, not just restricted to fandom stuff. Just so you know, lol.)

Currently participating in Global Game Jam 2017. I teamed up with J, someone I vaguely know from uni, (vaguely as in coffee and VVVVVV randomly two weeks ago) and we’re making a Microwave Oven Simulator.

My original idea transformed from “cool sunglasses-dude makes a mess in the kitchen” to “1800s loving husband painstakingly attempts to cook dinner for his wife”.

I’m making retrostyle pixel art with a 4 bit color palette. Basically: obscenely horrible crap inspired very much by the oh-so-dreadful graphics in the Hugo House of Horrors series. (Shares first place in my Most Nostalgic Games from Childhood with Neopets and Super Bubble Pop.)

The script J wrote is hilarious and I’m still hyped after what, seven hours? That’s definitely a good sign.

Gonna finish up graphics tomorrow and maybe try my hand at animation. Expect a very creepy gif of a pale dude speaking sometime during the next 24 hours.

Sleep time now. (After mandatory 1-2 games of Osu!)

PS. The image is our title screen.

I'm starting a new series featuring HP characters in drag! I plan to eventually do a full-fledged Dumbledore's Drag Race webcomic, but for now I will stick with drawing the contestants.

Here's the host Dumbledore herself!

I'm really happy with the direction in which my art has been developing. I feel like I master Clip Studio and my graphics tablet well enough now to start developing my own style.

Comments are much appreciated.
